How to Make Your Own Kava Drink at Home

  • Kava powder
  • Water
  • A strainer or bag to hold the kava powder or a simple muslin cloth
  • An empty bowl

Instructions:

  • Pour kava inside the kava strainer bag. The amount of kava depends on personal preference of taste, and quantity of kava drink being brewed. Generally 40-50 grams makes one 1 liter.
  • Put the kava strainer bag containing the kava powder into an empty bowl.
  • Next, pour water directly into the bag with the kava ensuring the kava powder stays inside the strainer bag.
  • Slowly pour water through the strainer bag/muslin cloth. After pouring the water, allow kava to be soaked in the bowl for 1-2 minutes to moisten and soak the fibers.
  • Twist/rub the kava through the strainer bag and gently press out and soak in the brew
  • Repeat this process until only fibers are left in the bag.
